MEDIA RELEASE – 24 May 2021
A new chapter is emerging at Runway and with it, a new pilot is steering the way.
Linda Wong, who has been the Chief Entrepreneur at Runway since 2018, has been appointed as the Managing Director effective 1 June 2021. Her journey with Runway to date has seen her co-developing our strategy with founders, Nick Stanley and Peter Dostis. Her strengths lie in developing and delivering Startup and Business programs, hosting International Innovation programs, and more recently, co-designing and delivering a new experiential MBA program in partnership with Federation University.
“Linda brings a very measured and analytical approach coupled with a rare insight into entrepreneurship. She is a proven and seasoned operator”, states Runway Chairman Nick Stanley. “As a not for profit, Runway exists to help entrepreneurs transform themselves, and the world – for good. Linda’s track record as the Chief Entrepreneur has transformed the organisation into a vehicle of impact and cemented the organisations legacy in its founders”.
Linda is excited by the challenge, saying “We have seen what Covid-19 has done to our businesses and economy over the last year and Runway itself needed to adapt to this rapidly changing environment. I plan to draw on my breadth of experience spanning across top tier strategic consultancy, various executive roles within industry and the establishment/operations of my own businesses to lead Runway through its next evolution.”
Linda’s passion for people, learning and horses (yes – horses!) will see a new chapter for Runway unfold.
The Board are excited and supportive of what Linda has planned and the team of talented and passionate people at Runway are standing by to deliver.
Runway continues to lead the way in building and fostering regional ecosystems as the champion for regional entrepreneurs.
Through the vision of founders, Nick Stanley and Peter Dostis, Runway has opened offices in Geelong and Ballarat, now has a presence in Gippsland at the Gippsland Hitech Precinct, a partnership with Startup Shakeup in Wangaratta and is a founding partner of the Ideas Place in Warrnambool. Runway’s reach extends across the state and the foundations that the Runway team have put in place in these regions has seen many new and existing businesses transform their ideas into reality.
As at 2020, Runway had contributed more than 430 new jobs supporting over $38M in annual wages and salaries and had created $145M+ in economic contribution to the State of Victoria (source: REMPLAN data, 2020).
We welcome your support of Linda and Runway more widely, and we look forward to continuing in our mission to support, enable and empower regional entrepreneurs.
