If you want to be ahead of the curve in your business this is why you should start posting YouTube shorts ASAP!
In this blog post, we’ll share why startups should start posting YouTube shorts, and give you some tips on how to get started. So read on and learn more about the power of video marketing for your business.
If you’re a startup, tech company, or small business owner, you should be thinking about posting YouTube shorts. Here’s why:
Three simple reasons
- High discoverability and low competition
- Low effort and low barrier to entry
- Build an audience that knows, likes and trusts you
In the past, if you wanted to create content for your business or blog to be seen by an audience it could take hours of work with little or low traffic. And on top of that it can take years to see some results.
Nowadays all that has changed thanks to short-form videos which are easy on both time commitment as well as getting your business discovered by an audience.
YouTube announced recently that YouTube Shorts is now being watched by over 1.5 billion logged-in users every month.
Creating content is much like running a business, you need a product (your content)
A problem to solve for the viewer like entertainment or education, and you need to break through a market that has a demand with some innovative ideas and a niche to compete against supply and demand.
These opportunities are not always available.
Depending on your journey as a startup, you might be starting from the very beginning like we all do.
No data, no sales and no feedback.. not yet at least.
This is an opportunity that could fast track the process of your startup with low effort and no cost of advertising.
You should take advantage and create content to be seen early – before competition rises like it always does!
With easy access to video equipment (like your phone), high traffic numbers and short form vertical videos it’s never been easier for content creation.
Normally with traditional long form YouTube videos, at the start it’s so competitive that you need to be an expert in writing titles, thumbnail design, storytelling, content research and video editing. It can be overwhelming.
Now you can just pull out your phone and film yourself talking to your audience or even show behind the scenes of how you’re building your business.
Audiences love authenticity and I am seeing more creators, startups, musicians and even people with ordinary jobs. Create and build an audience with short videos on TikTok and YouTube Shorts to be seen and grow businesses faster than ever before.
Another reason to post YouTube shorts is that it will help your long-form videos on your channel.
This hasn’t been the case in the past because the YouTube algorithm was not used to seeing viewers watch short videos and then the viewer going back to watching long-form videos.
The algorithm split the viewer watch history – but a tweet from Todd (Product lead for YouTube homepage and recommendations since 2014) announced that a bridge for discoverability from posting YouTube shorts to better connect to your channel long-form videos is now being opened and more is to come!
So there you have it! If you’re a startup, YouTube shorts should definitely be on your radar. They’re easy to produce, don’t require a lot of resources, and can really help you reach your target audience. Plus, they offer an opportunity to show off your brand personality in a fun and engaging way.
You probably have a lot more questions on how to get started and some of the creative tools and strategies to implement, Don’t worry we will cover all this and more in the next chapter
